So firstly, this is a well known Teltonika device. They are perhaps the leaders in this area now and of recent years and produce some very capable and reliable equipment. They have a huge product portfolio that integrate with all types of vehicles, boats etc. from the very basic (like this one) to far more sophisticated ODB and CANBUS solutions that allows control via all sorts of vehicle fleet management applications. In this case, the FMM880 is a simple 2-wire unit that does NOT need to be connected directly to the car battery but simply needs a permanent 12v feed. It has an onboard Li-on cell which can last up to a day when there is no external power and is a fallback power source so it is reliant on the car battery for most operations. The device does have a highly accurate GNSS chip and allows use of other global satellites, not just GPS. Also, with a 4G option, it is future-proof if you should use the device in areas where there is no 2G (the UK will switch off by 2033). Scorpion Automotive provide a SIM card from an overseas telco so international roaming is permitted from the start. The subscription cost then enables this and provides access to their AVL server (vehicle tracking software). Scorpion Automotive also preconfigured the device with their settings (Online Deep Sleep mode after 1min of no movement and six-hourly reports thereafter). The device can be further reconfigured however you like and if you are technically savvy, you should figure it out relatively quickly. Otherwise, how it is preconfigured out of the box is perfectly fine. Now you may come across an oft-heard complaint where people find their tracking software is failing to update the location of a device - in almost all instances, this will be an issue with the company operating/hosting the live tracking software so you must choose a company that is reliable in this regard. Scorpion Automotive are a well-known UK entity and should not give cause for any such problems. These devices are reliable and work as designed so it'd be silly not to use a reliable company for this role. All in all, a good price for the device itself and a mere £65 per annum for the international SIM and use of their tracking server. I remember paying over £600 back in the day so this is great deal for technology that has matured very well now.

Superb fitting instructions and mega easy to install. Locate battery on car, loosen terminal nuts (1 neg and 1 positive) put spade ends under terminals, no need to take the terminals off, re-tighten, stick unit on top of battery and its done. Took me 5 mins tops Bit tricky to set up notifications for the geofence as there is quite a few setting to set up. Love it ! but obviously if a thief knows to check the battery whilst being chased by the police it can be ripped off fairly easy but hey its got to be a good idea with car theft on the increase.

I purchased this a while back and mostly has been a great purchase. However please be aware that when you sign up for the subscription it gives you an option to pay monthly which is great but does not state clearly that you can not cancel at any time and that you will have to see the year out fee wether you like it or not. Unfortunately i had a problem with my vehicle and it went back to the finance company after 4 months of purchase, so i have had to pay the remainder of 8 months. Its no wonder there is no option to cancel inside the Scorpion trak app when you download it. Some other reveiwer also metioned this. If you want to cancel it make sure you do it dead on the year or it will just keep rolling with no option to cancel.
